I was very happy to find this coffee on Amazon.com. I can buy it locally, but it is more expensive or I can’t find the French Roast. I’m a Prime member so the shipping is free so I’m actually saving money by ordering it online.

Ok, we call this “frog roast” as a joke, but this is a very decent dark roast coffee with a fine, deep flavor and not too bitter or heavy. We make it up in a drip pot.
Why the “Seattle’s Worst?” In the town of Seattle, coffee is a serious business. Heck, it keeps people from jumping off bridges into Puget Sound, depressed from 280 days straight of cold fog and rain. On every corner, you’d see one of these friendly little red signs, meaning you could nip in and get a quick shot of espresso and chase the chill and sleepies from the bad weather. I, as a visitor, had sunny weather on the three times I had a trip to Seattle so I really don’t know how it is there, but locals assure me that the extra-dark, triple-brewed, anti-suicide roast is a necessity in this beautiful city. Because coffee is competitive in Seattle, some locals called the ubiquitous Seattle’s Best by an ironic name. But it is far from the worst. In fact, for widely distributed grocery-store coffee, it’s very good indeed.
Recently, Starbucks bought Seattle’s Best, a good move as they both make good coffee and have many outlets in the US. We find this is less expensive than the green-siren French Roast, a bit lighter and a very good blend for pre-packaged, pre-ground coffee. Especially nice in the morning with hot milk.

SBC’s French Roast is fantastic! Yes, I’m a Seattle coffee snob, but after having lived in a lot of different places in the world (many of which grow and roast their own beans), this is my absolute favorite. This is also my favorite amongst the various French roasts I’ve tried. The taste is full bodied yet not bitter (unlike another MAJOR competitor’s French roast) and the coffee is never cloudy in the cup. I’ve been drinking this French Roast for a long time and have never experienced a weak roast as another reviewer cited. I will be ordering this coffee again and again. I only wish it was on Subscribe and Save (hint, hint Amazon)!

Being a native of Louisiana, I was raised on French Roast coffee and have sought it where ever I may be. Seattle’s Best is probably the very best French Roast available this side of France. There, you can enjoy excellent French Roast coffee along with chocolate or plain croisants — at a gas station along the highway.
I recently re-ordered a shipment of Seattle’s Best French Roast but, unfortunately, I received a weak roast in lieu of what I ordered. I may or may not try ordering from Amazon again.

We end up spending a lot on ground coffee each month. Ordering through Amazon helped cut the costs. This is a pretty darn good coffee. It still doesn’t beat Starbucks (sorry, consumer world).
It tastes good, packs a punch, and smells great.
