Handpresso HPWILD Wild 16-Bar Hand-Pump Espresso Machine
I just noticed the “Wild” in the complete name of this espresso maker. Wild is one of many words that could be used to describe this little wonder-pump espresso maker.
Built to withstand a military missle-hit and cooler than a solar-powered sunlamp, the Handpresso can double for a hand-eye coordination/aerobic exercise device (Simultaneously jumping and chewing gum while pumping the thing) AND put out great espresso shots.
But guess what? And this is the salient reason I ventured into writing this self-described drivel: One doesn’t hafta use hot or boiling water…neither.
I use tepid water, er, whatever temp-(maybe water warmed in a car with all the windows rolled up, in the sun – in mid-July; in the south…O.K., really far south, like southern Congo – er, someplace Africa-hot. Well, you get the idea). Anyway, fill the pellucid water compartment, place the ESEpod, top it with the lid/filter head thingy, turn the Handpresso over to allow the ESEpod to soak for a few ticks…Do your exercise regimen (see above) while pumping to the green mark on the little pressure gauge, etc. Add a few creamers (free from your nearest Mini-Gas mart’s coffee bar) and your good for a shot, anywhere. Hell, if I’ve forgotten my cup, I just shoot the shot right into my mouth! I mean, talk about “wild”, huh!?
I guess that’s why they have ‘wiohld’ in the name:
Militarized version: Espresso maker, WILD, Portable (Handpresso).
Navy version: HanPressWildPortEspreMaker.
This little, (but large, for it’s importance to the continuation of a caffeinated public) espresso maker is for the hard-core espresso soldier/sailor/airman/airwoman in all of us! Hooyah! (Out).

I bought this item a couple of months ago and it was a COMPLETE waste of money.
It DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. Be very cautious with the number of positive reviews here. The pump pressure is extremely difficult to build up, and, once you manage to get it to a working level, and press the button, the water either leaks out the sides of the machine or the coffee holder falls out. Seller–through Amazon– has completely ignored my requests to return this product and never responded.
Several friends and co-workers tried to get this to work and they were unable to. I took it to a local coffee specialty store and no one there was able to get it to work. Even the technician who builds and repairs all models of coffee and espresso machines was unable to get it to work.
I have no idea who contributed the positive reports on here but this machine DOES NOT WORK. It looks cute, is very light, and generates conversation, it just doesn’t work. At all.

The pressure never got even half way to the “green” zone, after pumping extremely hard for over 10 minutes.
I exchanged the first one, for another one, thinking maybe I just got a defective model. However, the second Handpresso Wild did the same thing, the pressure never went up, even after pumping hard for 10 minutes.
I did make an expresso anyway, thinking it still might be good, but it wasn’t. No “crema” on top at all, like a good espresso should have. I returned the second one for a refund.

This little espresso maker is awesome! I was also skeptical after buying and returning several other non electric espresso makers. I needed something that I could use without electricity and this little gadget actually makes a great little cup of espresso!
My only complaints are that it only make a really small cup at a time and that I am unable to find the e.s.e. pods that you must use at any brick and mortar stores but must order online. Oh well, nothing’s perfect.
I also bought a battery operated milk frother which enables me to make a very satisfactory latte!

Handpresso HPWILD Wild 16-Bar Hand-Pump Espresso Machine
I have a great machine at home, and since I roast my own coffee, and have the investment in good equipment, I never take the risk or spend the money to buy espresso when I travel. Some of that is because of the taste from many oily beans, and some because I’d rather spend the money on equipment than paying someone to make me a coffee. The Handpresso is beautifully made, and with very little practice makes a decent espresso. The ese pods aren’t available in supermarkets as it states in their promo material, but in Europe I’m sure they are. Any decent Italian deli or Espresso Machine retailer will have them. It only takes a few seconds to pump it to pressure, warming the unit and the cup helps to give a hot product and cleanup is really easy. I fuss so much with coffee at home, I’m enjoying the contrast by having no messy grounds to cleanup. It’s great, and in Europe was priced at around 100 euros, so buy it here!
